AWANA Club, our Wednesday evening program for children ages three through sixth
grade, stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” from II Timothy
2:15. Its purpose is two-fold: to draw boys and girls from the
community into the club’s activities where they may hear the Gospel and receive
Christ as their Savior and to help club members understand the Word of God
through Scripture memory and by applying those truths to their daily lives.
The
children are divided into three different clubs determined by their age.
Cubbies are three and four year olds. Sparks are kindergarten, first, and
second graders. Truth and Training are third through sixth graders.
Club meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday during the academic school
year. The time is divided into three segments that include game time,
council time, and handbook time. During game time the clubbers
participate in age appropriate physical games. In handbook time the
clubbers memorize Bible verses and learn how to apply them to their
lives. Council time is led by an adult who shares a Bible story or life
lesson expressing truths from the Bible to help in everyday life.
Salvation through Christ Jesus is almost always shared.
